Emergency housing options are temporary accommodations provided to individuals and families who find themselves without a stable place to live due to various challenging circumstances.
Emergency housing options are vital for individuals and families facing sudden homelessness or displacement due to various circumstances. Anyone experiencing a sudden loss of housing or facing imminent homelessness can apply for emergency housing assistance. These options offer immediate shelter and support, addressing a diverse range of needs.
1- Call 144 so you can speak with support representatives. You will be asked your name, date of birth, and current situation. Afterwards, your case will be evaluated and it will be indicated the nearest shelter or one with an available spot.
2- If 144 monitors the situation, the case is flagged. However, if this does not happen, it is essential to fill out this form to sign the individual. The team will contact you within 72 hours.
3- it may also be advised to contact your Embassy or Consulate.
The process for obtaining temporary shelter varies significantly and is specific to each case. To stay in a shelter, you may need to provide proof of legal entry into Portugal, a passport, residence permit, or ID card. Therefore, it is important to note that staying in a shelter can be challenging for those who are undocumented in the country. If you find yourself in that situation, you may be referred to AIMA for assistance.
